THINKING OF BUYING A TV ?

THINK OF QUALITY

THINK PANASONIC WIDESCREEN

tv1.gif (36784 bytes)

Panasonic televisions bring you all the benefits of easy to use, state of the art technologies and generations of experience gained at the leading edge of design, development and manufacturing.
The result is a range of televisions that not only provide new and unsurpassed levels of picture and sound quality. They also offer superb, unobtrusive styling to suit any situation and the kind of quality, innovation, reliability and sheer good value that you’ve come to expect from Panasonic, a world leader in consumer electronics.

 Widescreen -
 A Television Revolution

panasonicwidescreen.gif (6782 bytes)

The Widescreen revolution now means that you can enjoy cinema format films from the comfort of your armchair. No longer need you suffer films made for the cinema widescreen (16:9 format) on a conventional 4:3 (12:9) aspect ratio. With broadcasters already making wide format programmes the revolution has already begun and you can enjoy it with the reassurance that this technology is brought to you by Panasonic who have more than 50 years of design, development and manufacturing expertise.
Human eyesight provides us with a much broader view of life than the traditional 4:3 (12:9) aspect ratio television screen can replicate.
The new widescreen format delivers a picture much closer to the way we see the world.
The cinema has followed this principle for many years but until now when a film is transferred from the silver screen to the small screen a substantial portion of the picture is lost. By using a format similar to that of the cinema, widescreen technology means that you can enjoy more of the action

 Digital Management
 System - Television That
 Thinks for Itself!

dms.gif (6422 bytes)

By processing pictures in a digital form, the detail and parameters are constantly monitored and adjusted as necessary (up to 100 times per second). Panasonic’s DigitalManagement System ensures a sharp image with true to life colours.

 8 Bit Digital Definition

d8bt.gif

An image is created out of the tiny picture elements or pixels. 8 bit processing has twice the number of pixels as 7 bit processing. As a result, images are sharper, pictures have greater depth and realism and colours are sharper.

 Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence continuously analyses each part of the picture, adjusting it to provide superb picture quality with clear, balanced colour.

 Owner
 Identificatio n

oid.gif

It is an unavoidable fact of life that televisions are high on the list for thefts. For this reason Panasonic have introduced an Owner Identification System enabling the owener to programme into the sets memory their name, address and postcode. In the event of the set being stolen and subsequently recovered it can be returned to its rightful owner.

NEW TUBE PRODUCTION IN EUROPE

 Digital Colour Transient
 Improver
The Digital Colour Transient Improver prevents adjacent colours from merging into one another at their borders.

 Auto Set-Up

auto.gif

Panasonic televisions incorporate a range of features to simplify the initial tuning and set-up process.
Auto Tuning scans the tuner range and stores the channels located. Edit and Swap function enables these to be re-ordered as desired whilst Auto Sort memorises the channels in a pre-defined order and on all Nicam Stereo models has the ability to select on the strongest signals and shuffle their order.

 Dolby Pro-Logic -
 Cinema Sound all Round!

dolby.gif (2317 bytes)

Cinema goers have enjoyed the benefits of Dolby Pro-Logic for years. Dolby Stereo Surround keeps an audience enthralled by utilising speakers both in front and behind them. The sound effect created is so realistic that you’ll think you’re taking a starring role.
With the new 3D Active range you can enjoy a 3 dimensional sound effect without the need for external speakers.
Models equipped with the Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound System enable you to experience films with the same superb sound effects as the cinema. This state of the art surround sound system uses the latest technology to decode the special additional soundtrack created directly for use in the cinema.
Thousands of movies have been recorded with the Dolby Pro-Logic soundtrack and many TV and satellite programmes are already broadcast with Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound.

 Quintrix -
 A Step Closer to
 Prefection

quingold.gif

Panasonic’s own Quintrix picture tube range is the result of Panasonic’s engineering experts in Europe and Japan working together to develop new technologies and processes. Quintrix tubes are now manufactured in Panasonic’s state-of-the-art production facility in Europe. By vastly enhancing the design and function of complex Super Pigment and Electron Gun technologies, Panasonic’s unique Quintrix Cathode Ray Tube (ORT) sets new standards.

quintube.gif (12949 bytes)

Just about every factor that can be improved to help produce unsurpassed picture quality has been. The result is a tube which gives you the ultimate in viewing enjoyment through the best possible combination of more natural colours, brighter pictures, reduced ambient light for better levels of contrast and razor sharp focus across the whole screen.

 100Hz Frequency
 Scanning for Flicker-
 Free Viewing.

100hz.gif

Conventional television uses 50Hz frequency scanning, one to which the human eye is particularly sensitive. This explains why the picture frequently seems to flicker and can be tiring to watch. However, our 100Hz frequency scanning technology effectively doubles the scanning rate to that of conventional sets and produces a rock steady picture that is much easier on the eye.

 Digital Broadcasting
 Prepared for the Future
The future trends of broadcasting are already becoming apparent. Vastly increased programme choice as well as interactive facilities will become available. You will be able to take advantage of these new broadcast trends by purchasing a set-top box when available.

 QLINK-Simplify TV
 and VRC Linking

qlink.gif

Connecting a QLINK compatible video recorder and colour television together via a SCART connector simplifies the programming and setup of the VCR. Preset signal information for example is downloaded automatically from the television making tuning straight forward. Avoid those frustrating mistakes when recording, select Direct Record and the VCR automatically records the source as displayed on the television screen.

 3D Super Bass Subwoofer

s3db.gif

Drawing on the design experience gained from Panasonic audio and Hi-Fi systems a bass subwoofer is positioned at the rear of the cabinet. This produces rich, enhanced bass sound.

 3D Active Sound

3das.gif

Surround sound is achieved via the television set’s own internal speaker system. The Dolby Pro-Logic Processor decodes the signal and the sound is projected into the viewing area to provide an all encompassing "3 dimensional sound effect".

 Hexacone Dome Sound
 System

hex.gif

The size and shape of the speaker enclosures have been designed for maximum acoustic performance, sound so good that it appears to come from the screen itself, but with superb stereo image.

 Wide Digital Plus

wdp.gif

Panasonic Wide Digital Plus technology means today’s Panasonic Wide Screen televisions make the most out of conventional 4:3 broadcast signals. Line interpolation ensures broadcast pictures can be reproduced on the 16:9 format in "zoom mode" with the best possible picture definition. 100Hz digital scanning overcomes the problem of picture flicker associated with standard 50Hz sets, making viewing far easier on the eye.

 Nicam Digital Stereo

nds.gif

Models with this facility are able to receive Nicam Digital Stereo broadcast - giving near CD sound quality.

 CATS - Contrast
 Auto Tracking System

cats.gif

CATS automatically adjusts picture contrast levels to compensate for changing ambient light levels so that the picture remains both easy to watch and kind to your eyes.
